In October, Suncruise Andalucía, an association dedicated to the promotion of tourism and cruises in the region of Andalucía, launched an Open Innovation Challenge. Companies and startups were invited to come up with a proposal for the 3 challenges that ports and cruise companies face. CactusSoft participated in two challenges, receiving an award for the third one.
MSC Cruises, one of the biggest global cruise companies with a fleet of 19 ships, promoted the challenge. CactusSoft proposed a solution that aims to ensure the engagement of the passenger while visiting the cities during the cruise stops. The solution consists of a mobile app providing a marketplace and a guide functionality, making use of artificial intelligence algorithms in order to extend the experience of the passenger beyond the cruise once it arrives at a port. The application recommends places to go at the best moment, ensuring sustainable tourism and the smoothest experience.
The award ceremony took place in Malaga, Spain. Jose Laffitte, Head of CactusSoft Spain, and Maria Gonzalez, CactusSoft Spain’s HR Business Partner, participated in the ceremony, collecting the prize for the third challenge.
Congratulations to the winners of the first and second challenges, SEArch-Marina and unBlock!
